Dewey Beach Patrol 2023 Tryouts

Beach Patrol Update

As the summer season comes to a close, many of our guards must leave the patrol to return to college. It is typical that we do not have a guard posted at every street entrance due to lighter staff at this time in the season.

Guarded areas may change daily depending on crowds and ocean conditions. When you enter the beach, look both directions to locate the closest guard on duty. If you plan to enter the water, we recommend swimming close to a manned lifeguard stand.

The DBP will also continue patrol on mobile units. ATVs are stocked with necessary equipment for open water rescues and support for medical emergencies.

The DBP will be on duty safeguarding our beaches through September 11th at 5:00pm. After this date, the beach patrol will be off-duty until next year.

Our sincere thanks to the Dewey Beach Patrol for another fantastic season. We are endlessly grateful for your service to the town.
